Contractors call-outs

contractor call-outs

Boing (UK) Ltd. Operates a 24 - hour Service Response Centre in partnership with police forces in many areas of the UK. On their behalf, we respond to thousands of non-police related calls which require attendance from local contractors and are therefore able to free up valuable police resources for more crucial work. The type and number of calls is not exhaustive and we require reliable contractors to fulfil this growing and demanding service in many areas of the UK.

How our system works for call-out contractors
1. The Police contact us or refer callers to our Service Response Centre. We record their details and requirements and give each call-out a unique individual reference number which tracks it through the system.

2. Our Response Centre Co-ordinator asks a registered contractor from our database to respond to the call-out and give an ETA (Expected Time of Arrival) preferably within 40 minutes. Contractors are called in strict rotation within the area codes covered.

3. If the call-out originates from the Police, or in certain areas the Fire Brigade, Boing will mediate between the contractor and the Police until the call-out is completed.

4. If the call-out is from a member of the public or other recognised agency (various charities such as Age Concern and Help the Aged use our services), we will provide the contractor with details and a brief description of the service required. If the contractor accepts the call-out, he will then be logged as ‘on call’ on our system.

5. A copy of the call-out details will be either faxed or e-mailed directly to the contractor as soon as he has agreed to accept the call-out.

6. Once a contractor has arrived at the site we ask him to contact the Response Co-ordinator to update on the situation, confirming time of arrival and to receive any additional instructions which may be necessary to complete the job in hand.

7. Once the contractor has attended the call-out and carried out the work, they are required to contact the Boing Response Co-ordinator to advise us that the job is complete and the contractor will once again be logged on the database as available to receive other call outs.

Joining the Boing (UK) Ltd Contractors’ Database
To join the Boing database as a call out contractor you will be asked to provide details of your Public Liability Insurance and membership of professional or trade organisations. The level of coverage will be initially specified at point of sale and reviewed from time to time. On no account should a contractor registered with Boing be seen to engage the services of a subcontractor unless and specifically the supplier’s Public Liability Insurance provides coverage for that same subcontractor with the same Terms, Conditions and Limits. Allocation of work will be based on the agreed telephone dialling code areas/postcode areas of your business which you have registered with us.

Hours of work
Contractors can specify when they are available for call-outs - either 12 or 24 hour periods. This will be logged on the system so that contact will only be made during the hours specified. Obviously we would ask contractors to tell us about any change to their availability and holidays so that valuable time is not wasted in the initial stages of a call-out.

Charges
An Annual registration fee is charged to call-out contractors based on the number of dialling code areas covered. There is also a call-out charge which will be specified at point of sale and may be subject to review from time to time. The charge remains the same regardless of the size or specification of the job and is only payable if the contractor accepts the call-out. We do not specify the charge that a contractor makes for carrying out any work necessary unless an agreement is in force with the contracting Police Force for maximum and minimum rates for specific types of work undertaken where it is police to pay. We do however ask that all charges are reasonable for the nature of the work carried out and the time of day that the call-out occurred. Charges may be open to scrutiny by Boing on behalf of the police and the general public to ensure that fair costs are being applied for specific work carried out.

Additional services from Boing (UK) Ltd.
1. We will co-ordinate the necessary back-up paperwork for the police to pay call-out fees from contractor invoices which in this instance must be submitted via Boing (UK) Ltd.

2. 3. Boing (UK) Ltd has the facility to take credit/debit card payments. Details available on registration.
