If you are interested in joining the Boing database as a call-out contractor, you will be asked to provide details of your Public Liability Insurance and membership of professional or trade organisations. Contractors registered with Boing cannot engage the services of a sub-contractor unless the supplier’s Public Liability Insurance also provides the same coverage with the same Terms, Conditions and Limits.
Contractors can specify whether they are available for call-out over 12 or 24 hour periods - and this will be logged on our system so that contact will only be made during the hours specified. Contractors have to inform us about any changes to their availability and holidays so we don’t waste valuable time in the initial stages of a call-out.
There is an annual registration fee based on the number of dialling code areas a contractor is able to cover, and a call-out charge which is the same regardless of the size or specification of the job. It is only payable if the contractor accepts the call-out.
We do not specify the charge contractors can make for carrying out any work required unless an agreement is in force with the contracting police organisation where it is ‘police to pay’.
We do, however, ask that all charges are reasonable for the nature of the work carried out and the time of day the call-out occurs. Charges may be open to scrutiny by Boing on behalf of the police and the general public to ensure that fair costs are being applied for specific work carried out.
All contractors must also have photo identification in line with the National Doorstep Protocol.
Boing co-ordinates the necessary paperwork for the requesting agency to pay call-out fees resulting from contractor invoices and, if required, we can assist with invoices to the public. We provide advice in a Contractor Pack available on registration which gives an outline of how to receive payment and manage invoices.
The normal period of registration is 12-months, renewable on an annual basis. Registering could not be easier. Simply call us on 01953 601911 and a personal account manager will be allocated to discuss your requirements and explain registration and payment details. It is essential that you are contactable by telephone and either fax or e-mail to enable us to confirm call-out details to you in writing for your records.
